The St. Anton ski region
Slopes and lifts on the Arlberg
The Arlberg is a legendary feature of the Austrian Alps. The cradle of alpine skiing is still known today for its leading role and position as one of the best and most up-to-date ski regions in the Alps, with a terrific range of groomed slopes, deep-snow descents and more.
The Arlberg ski paradise
388 state-of-the-art railways and lifts deliver the ultimate in safety and comfort. 305km of marked descents for all abilities, challenging sporting opportunities on 200km of deep-snow descents, snowboard fun parks, carving areas, permanent racetracks and plenty of comfortable and convenient venues for an enjoyable change of scene.
The Arlberg is an enormous, unique ski paradise that grows a little more cohesive each year.
You can look forward to:
- 145km of easy slopes
- 150km of moderate slopes
- and 55km of challenging slopes
- These include numerous competitive courses
- More than 60% of the slopes are equipped with snow machines
- Enjoy skiing from the beginning of December to the end of April
Freeriding on more than 200km of deep-snow descents
A particular Arlberg highlight are the many backcountry slopes. You would have to go a long way to find another region with such a terrific range of ski tour and deep snow options. Many of these are accessible via ski lift, but others make you find your own way to the top. A top recommendation: the Arlberg is the only ski region in Austria to offer heli-skiing as an option. Contact the ski and mountain guides to discuss this option.
Learn to ski on the Arlberg
With over 1,000 trained and proficient ski instructors, the Arlberg is just the right place for beginners as well. Even some of the instructor training facilities are located here. But the Arlberg Ski School also offers lessons for experienced skiers. You can learn to traverse deep snow or take a ski tour, try heli-skiing or discover the Telemark style.
